What is an Appraisal?

An appraisal is a professional opinion of the authenticity, quality, design and approximate value of a piece of property. An appraisal must be typewritten in concise, objective and internationally recognized terminology.

Why Appraise Jewellery?

Most people require appraisals for obtaining insurance but other reasons may include – for division of property upon death or divorce, as proof of ownership when travelling, to use as collateral or for resale.

Who Can Help?

We believe that impartiality is a valuable element to appraising jewellery in today’s world. And although, we at European Goldsmith are very well trained in the jewellery and diamond industry, however do not have Graduate Gemmologist certification.

We are happy to provide our educated opinion of the quality and current retail value of our jewellery, in writing. However, in order to service our customers that require a Certified Gemologist produced appraisal, we hold APPRAISAL CLINICS two to three times a year.

At these events, we bring in a GIA certified appraiser from Vancouver to independently appraise your jewellery. For more information, or to book an appointment for our next clinic, please call us at 250.860.667

How Much Will it Cost? Our appraisal clinic rates are $75 for the first item and $60 for each additional item.

How Long Does it Take?

Approximately 20 minutes per piece is the norm, although more complex pieces may require extra time.
