Most of us in the Okanagan like to enjoy the hot summers. We choose not to leave our beautiful beaches and lakes, and we put up with the excess in traffic and growing number of tourists every year so we too can take in the splendor of the greatest place to live in Canada. However, come winter, we want nothing more than to get out of the snow and cold… Even if we have it better off than most of the country. This year winter doesn’t seem to want to go away. The snow keeps coming and the temperature is hovering around the -1 to +3, which for me, is still just to cold! I want a vacation!

When I’m planning for my vacations, not only do I gather up the suitable clothes but I make sure to gather the suitable jewellery to go along with my outfits. Jewellery is one of those go-to items that can transform you from beach bum to summer chic without taking up excess room in your suitcase.
While I don’t recommend travelling with your best and most valuable jewellery a statement necklace is a key ingredient to any fashionable wardrobe and something I never leave home without. I also recommend packing a smaller simple necklace that can be worn with anything anytime. I like to wear my go-to bangle that goes with anything when it comes to bracelets. As far as earrings, a nice simple stud or hoop will get you by on most days and one or two pairs of funky drop earrings should do the trick to spice up a plain t-shirt or tank. And most importantly… Your ring! IF you are married or engaged depending on where you are travelling to, you might not want to wear your diamond rings. I recommend wearing a simple band with or without diamonds and I always travel with one or two larger fun rings.

One thing to be cautious of if you do decide to travel with your diamond jewellery, make sure your room has an in-room safe that you can lock up your valuables in. And remember these are not always secure, even if they are available to you. Also make sure you get information about the surrounding area outside your resort or hotel. The last thing you want is to get robbed on your otherwise perfect holiday. If you travel with jewellery like I do, it’s a good idea to invest in some sort of jewellery case to keep it all organized. The best travel jewellery cases I have seen have separate compartments for all different kinds of jewellery, including your earrings, rings, bracelets, and necklaces. The jewellery roll is one of the most popular styles and the most prominent. However I prefer the ones that zip up like a book.
