Hi Kelowna,
Well, we out did you all soaking up your 35-degree heat as we attacked Vegas in the mid-40s this last week at North America’s not-to-be-missed jewellery expo, JCK Las Vegas! Wow, the beautiful and interesting jewellery we saw!
Some highlights, apart from my hubby taking me to my #1 favourite restaurant EVER, Tao (you have to go!), include:
- We viewed the worldwide launch of Forevermark’s Ideal Oval diamond… the most perfectly cut oval diamond in the world. Spectacular is the only word I can think of! And yes, we bought some for the store.

- We met the man behind the fabulous European designs of one of our favourite in-store collections, Mr. Bernd Wolf himself. A lovely man and some wonderful new collections. Our summer releases will be the in the store any day, featuring rose gold with mini pearls (great for grad, wedding parties, or just the soft look of summer), as well as the cool colours of turquoise and greens.

- We picked up a few little gems (literally) and a piece of equipment that John (my husband and our master goldsmith) has been pining over for 20 years. We’ve been back just a few hours and he’s already working on designing and creating pieces for these newly acquired gems. We’ll post some pics when they are ready!
The big thing coming our way in jewellery fashion… Coming like a freight train…. Are you ready? YELLOW GOLD IS BACK! From the highly-polished, chunky funky look to art deco with a lot of texture, it is all in YELLOW! Colour us surprised as we shift from white gold, to rose gold, back to yellow gold again.

While we’ve been seeing this trend emerging on the red carpet and in magazines for the last couple of years, we can now officially say that it appears to be sticking. Of course, yellow gold is a classic and timeless, and it is a nice contrast against diamonds, making them appear whiter and brighter. Seeing the beautiful jewellery we saw this week, we will definitely be welcoming it into our collections for this coming seasons – You HAVE to come check it out!
